SWAMS is proud to celebrate the achievements of three inspiring individuals who received 2025 AHCWA Awards — with special recognition to Elder nominee Uncle Keith Manuel.
Uncle Keith, a respected client of SWAMS Bindjareb Aged Care, has been a quiet but powerful leader in strengthening cultural connection and support for Elders in the region. His warm encouragement and active involvement in SWAMS outings and weekly men’s business gatherings have helped bring other community members into the service, building trust and support networks.
Beyond his work with SWAMS, Uncle Keith also formed a Cultural Committee at Bethanie, helping foster cultural pride and connection for Aboriginal residents. Thanks to his efforts, Bethanie has invited SWAMS and our Elders to join in shared events like National Reconciliation Week — creating stronger ties across the region.
Uncle Keith is a humble but tireless advocate who continues to make a difference every day. We are proud to walk alongside him.

We also congratulate SWAMS Social Services Coordinator and Cultural Committee chairperson Rebecca Colbung for her contribution to the ACCHO sector and SWAMS Youth Worker Matthew Worthington, whose leadership and positivity inspire everyone around him. Matt won the Youth Award.
All three are shining examples of what it means to care for community, culture and the future.
AHCWA awards are presented by the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia every year.
