Health
We are an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, founded on the principles of self-determination, empowerment and freedom of choice.
We have been committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of our mob, as a whole from the very beginning. We want to assist in bridging the gap between cultural and mainstream services.
We currently offer a range of general health services and employ a number of GPs, Aboriginal health practitioners, Aboriginal health workers, Indigenous outreach workers and Nurses to ensure or clients feel comfortable and welcome at our clinics. We also have visiting medical specialists to assist with specific health issues.
SWAMS is committed to making our patient’s lives easier, we offer assistance in many ways including:
- Immunisations
- Sexual health
- Patient transport

We are a bulk-billing service and there is no charge for Medicare services for patients who are registered with Medicare. A fee may apply for services not covered by Medicare (such as some pathology tests). Your doctor will talk to you about this at the time of making the referral.
The average doctor’s appointment is 15 minutes, if you require a longer appointment, please let our medical receptionists know to request a double appointment.
