July 23, 2025
This month, we proudly acknowledged the 50th Anniversary of NAIDOC Week, recognising five decades of celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This milestone offers an important moment of reflection and continued commitment to equity, inclusion and cultural recognition within our community.
To help us mark this the SWAMS Cultural Committee is inviting community members to help us name some of our buildings with appropriate Noongar names. The following locations currently don’t have a Noongar name, and we’d love to hear your ideas:
-
Admin building in Bunbury
-
Bunbury clinic
-
Busselton clinic
-
Manjimup clinic
-
Katanning clinic
-
Narrogin clinic
-
Brunswick clinic
-
Collie clinic
If you have a name suggestion, please send it through to us by close of business, Wednesday 31st July. This is a wonderful way to honour local language and culture, and we encourage everyone to get involved. Email info@swams.com.au
