The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) has made the difficult decision to transition out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and is ceasing delivery of NDIS-funded services. This decision follows careful consideration and reflects the significant challenges faced by regional providers under the current NDIS framework. This challenge is shared by many providers across Western Australia.
For many years, SWAMS has been proud to provide culturally safe disability support to our community. This has made the decision to exit NDIS services one of the most difficult in our history. We acknowledge the trust placed in us by clients and families and thank our dedicated staff for their professionalism and commitment.
SWAMS will maintain services during a 60-day transition period, concluding on 31 January 2026, to ensure continuity of care.
Each client and family has been advised individually and will receive personalised transition support, including assistance to select a new provider and complete all necessary handover documentation.
SWAMS NDIS Staff, the wider staff cohort and relevant stakeholders have been advised and will be supported through the transition period with care.
Need help or have questions? Please speak with your SWAMS Support Coordinator, or our NDIS Manager on (08) 9797 8111.
