We’re proud to share that immunisation coverage for Aboriginal children in our care continues to exceed national targets – a strong sign that our efforts to protect the health of our youngest community members are working.
Over the past year, our team has worked closely with families to support timely vaccinations and make sure no child misses out. The results speak for themselves: 95% of one-year-olds in our care were fully immunised, compared to the national average of 89%. Among two-year-olds, we reached 94%, just ahead of the national figure of 93%. And by age five, our coverage matched the national rate at 98%.
These numbers reflect the commitment of our staff, the trust of our families, and the strength of community working together. Thank you to everyone who continues to play a part in keeping our children safe and healthy.
As we move beyond Djilba and into the warmer months we are not letting our guard down when it comes to preventable illness.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients of all ages who receive a health professional-recommended immunisation at a SWAMS clinic or in their home will receive one $20 supermarket gift card.
This is a limited-time incentive. To check if your immunisations are up-to-date or make an appointment to discuss them, phone our service on 9726 6060 or 1800 779 000.
