“Sweet Caroline – bah bah bah!” echoed through the Dudley Park Bowling and Recreation Club as a spirited chorus of SWAMS Aged Care staff and clients belted out the classic Neil Diamond song.
The song was performed as part of a karaoke outing for the SWAMS Bindjareb and South West Aged Care program at the Dudley Park Bowling and Recreation Club in Mandurah during August.
There was plenty of laughter, music and sentimental moments, bringing Elders together for a day of connection and joy.
Karaoke favourites like “Hello Darling” by Charley Pride, “To Sir With Love”, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”, and “Blue Bayou” sparked memories and smiles, while a few brave voices took on upbeat classics like “Crocodile Rock” and “Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”
Between songs, some Elders enjoyed a friendly game of pool, while others relaxed and soaked up the atmosphere. Enjoy some photos from the day below.
On 11th September, another highlight outing saw Elders from Bindjareb and the South West come together for a day out at Bunbury’s Dolphin Discovery Centre.
For some it was their first visit to the popular tourist spot, despite living in Bunbury all their lives.
Check out images from the day below, too.

Douglas Ninyette and Isaiah Tuuana got into their song.

Elsie Ugle performs a solo.

Pool was a popular game at the day.

Staff got in on the act too.

Elders were thrilled to visit Bunbury’s Dolphin Discovery Centre’s Marine Centre on Thursday 11th September.

The Centre’s 27,000 litre offshore reef creature tank, which includes small kwila (sharks) impressed the guests.

The group were able to enjoy a break and quiz at the picturesque upstairs of the Dolphin Discovery Centre.

Elders from Bindjareb Aged Care in Mandurah as well as the South West met up for the day visit.

The visit brought the deep blue sea to James Riley’s eye height, making for good photo opportunities.

The interactive touch pool exhibits were fascinating, and Jenny Burton soaked up the chance to have a close look.

It was hard for Lorraine Bennell to resist the Koombana Bay view – she took lots of photos.
