Katanning partners celebrate NAIDOC together

August 19, 2025

Katanning was full of colour, connection and celebration as community came together to mark 50 years of NAIDOC and honour our Elders.

SWAMS was proud to support the NAIDOC Family Fun Day and Elders Luncheon at the Katanning Recreation Centre on 19th August, in partnership with Badgebup Aboriginal Corporation and Koort To Koort Creations.

Our Access and Engagement team joined forces with Maternal Child Health, Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS), and Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) to be part of the Health Embassy – sharing information, connecting with mob and celebrating community strength.

The Elders Luncheon was a warm and welcoming gathering, with a shared meal, raffle giveaways and cupcakes for every Elder lovingly made by a local small business.

Community hampers and a cupcake raffle added a bit of fun to the day.

Meanwhile, the youth zone was buzzing with activity. Little ones and young mob enjoyed beading, painting, henna tattoos and a passport stamp activity trial. A free sausage sizzle and burgers kept everyone going as families joined in the celebration.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day special – and to the Elders, families and young ones who came along to celebrate strength, vision and legacy.
