SWAMS staff had a deadly time yarning with community at the Katanning Harmony Festival on Saturday 22 March. The main street came alive with colour, culture, music, dancing, and good vibes, and we were proud to be part of it.
Our team was there to chat about NDIS support, lung health through Tackling Indigenous Smoking, and the range of SWAMS services available to support local Aboriginal families.
One of our favourite parts of the day was asking, “What’s a hope or dream for your future?”
Your answers were thoughtful. Some of the dreams shared included:
“Be the first to graduate in my family”
“Cultural teaching in schools”
“To be well”
“Language on boodja”
“Strength. Culture. Family.”
A cheeky koorlangka also made us smile with, “To play Fortnite”.
We made your responses into a paper chain of hope — a reminder of community strength and vision. Thanks for yarning with us, Katanning moort. We’re already looking forward to next time!
