The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS), in partnership with Key Assets Australia, is proud to announce that it has been named the preferred provider for the Regional Family Support Hub in the South West region. This initiative, delivered with the Department of Communities’ Regional Service Model, aims to provide crucial support services for families and children, ensuring the wellbeing of children while prioritising keeping them within their family and cultural community networks.
The Regional Family Support Hub will play a critical role in addressing systemic challenges faced by vulnerable families in the South West. Through culturally appropriate, wrap-around services, the program will support families to address barriers and challenges, reducing the likelihood of children entering the foster care system.
Lesley Nelson, CEO of SWAMS, welcomed the announcement and emphasised the importance of Aboriginal-led initiatives in delivering culturally safe and effective services.
“This funding is an important recognition of the unique needs of Aboriginal children and their families. By ensuring these services are delivered by an Aboriginal Community Organisation, we can provide culturally appropriate care that respects our values, traditions, and ways of knowing.
