In an effort to do our part in containing the outbreak of COVID-19 commonly known as Coronavirus, SWAMS will be putting into place new procedures, policies and mandatory measures.
This is an active, declared, global health pandemic and must be taken seriously.
We will still be operating and looking after the community and our clients, however ALL PATIENTS will now be stopped before entering any SWAMS Building.
You will be asked a series of questions so we know where to direct you to next.
This procedure is for your safety and for the safety of our staff.
Please note, SWAMS do not have the facilities to actually test for this new virus. In Bunbury and Busselton all testing is done with a referral to the Path West facilities.
In Collie and Manjimup, you do not need a referral from us, instead please present to the Emergency Department at the local hospital.
In Collie and Manjimup, you will only be tested at this time if you have travelled. You will be asked to provide proof of travel e.g. boarding pass or a copy of your ticket.
Please be aware that not everyone will be tested. At this time, you will only be tested if you meet the criteria for testing like if you have travelled.
We ask that patients and the community is kind and understanding of all new procedures across the WA health sector. Please listen to your doctors and staff, we are here on the front line, trying to help you and your families.
Furthermore, unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel all SWAMS programs, school visits and events until further notice.
We ask that you also reconsider your social needs at this time. Please practice social distancing. Please protect our Elders and vulnerable community members (those with any chronic conditions) by staying away if you’re unwell.
We have to work together to stop the spread of this virus.
