Primary Health promotion

We’re excited to share that Salena Linforth-Milham has been appointed as SWAMS Primary Health Manager.

A proud Noongar woman born in Narrogin, Salena started with SWAMS back in 2007 as a Receptionist.

She later joined the Health Information Team and became a Registered Nurse, inspired by mentors and driven by a strong passion for helping her people.

Salena completed her Nursing Degree while juggling work and family, with support from SWAMS staff and clinicians who cheered her on and lent a hand when needed.

She also led the Kaat Koort Aboriginal Brain Study, a dementia prevention project developed with Curtin University and the University of Melbourne.

In 2023, Salena stepped into the Acting Primary Health Coordinator role, and took it on permanently last year after showing great leadership.

“SWAMS is like my second family. I feel valued here,” Salena said.

Through yarning with community, Salena continues to build trust and champion culturally safe care for community. We’re lucky to have Salena’s experience, heart and leadership guiding our Primary Health team.

Meanwhile, Keely Wallam was recently appointed as Data Analytics Coordinator after also starting out as a SWAMS Receptionist (in 2021).

Keely moved into the current team in 2022, so has strong technical as well as organisational knowledge of the work area.

The small but important SWAMS Data Team helps track health trends and share useful statistics to support better care across our services.
