Moorditj Mia ‘Good Place’

September 18, 2023

SWAMS are excited to introduce the new Moorditj Mia (Aboriginal group activities) program for any Aboriginal person experiencing mental health or alcohol and other drug concerns.
This is a low intensity program with the aim to help participants experience a more meaningful life through opportunities to connect to others and developing some great skills in a confidential and culturally safe environment.
The program structure includes a relaxation session that introduces participants to gentle movements that connect the mind, body, and spirit. The second session includes arts, crafts, and music, with the final session a relaxing walk and talk.
We will also be planning monthly activities for group participants and community to attend.
Each session is 45 minutes in duration and the facilitation team includes Peer Support Workers with lived experience.
The program is located at Djin Djin Mart (23 Sampson Road) with the program hours listed below.
Attendance is free, with lunch provided.
Timetable:
NOTE THAT Moorditj Monday is for men, and Moorditj Wednesday is for women.
If you’re interested in attending the group, please contact one of the friendly group activities team on 9760 1901 who can assist.
