2021 NAIDOC Week Elders Luncheon – Wednesday 7 July

This year’s Elders Luncheon was held at the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury. The MC for the day was Murray Collard with ‘Welcome to Country’ by Dennis Jetta.

Approximately 60 elders attended the event and enjoyed performances by Kehaan playing the didgeridoo and Ebony’s contemporary dance and performance on alto saxophone. It was a fun afternoon for all with delicious food, door prizes and a special gift for our Elders to take home and enjoy.

We asked what ‘Heal Country, Heal the Nation’ meant to our Elders and here are some of their responses:

“Healing begins at home.”

“Heal Country to me is significant to our people, to go bush, revitalise our healing and feeling the soul within our self. The purification of fresh air is a blessing out in the bush.”

“Going back to Heal Country by visiting with family, show them where you grew up and connected with country.”

“Heal Boodja, Heal Moort”.
